What Word Recall is

Words appear on screen one at a time in a set order. When the sequence finishes you tap them back in that same order, and each successful round adds one more word to the next one. Your score comes from the words you recall correctly plus a bonus for consecutive correct rounds, and it is the score, not the longest sequence you reached, that is stored as your best. The presentation runs at a fixed pace that quickens as the rounds go on, from a little under a second per word down to a floor; your recall, by contrast, has no deadline at all. Fixed presentation pace, no recall deadline.

You have three lives. A wrong answer plays a short buzz, reveals the order you should have given, and ends that attempt — the round is then replaced with a fresh set of words at the same length, so you retry the difficulty rather than the exact sequence. Losing all three lives ends the run.

How it plays

Watch the words appear in order, then tap them back in that order once the sequence ends. On a keyboard, the arrow keys move and Enter selects. P pauses and M mutes.

Getting better at it

The game shows the words one at a time and then asks for the whole run in order, so anything that ties one word to the next is something to follow on the way back. Linking them into a sentence is one approach; there is nothing in the game that requires it.

Because recall is untimed, there is no cost to pausing over a word before answering. The presentation is the part that does not wait: words advance on their own, and a little quicker each round.

If you do get stuck at a particular length, try pairing the words up as they arrive rather than treating each one separately. Whatever grouping you use has to be applied while the sequence is being shown: once it has finished and the game is waiting for your answer, there is nothing left on screen to group.

Who it suits

Good for a quiet moment. The presentation does move on by itself, and a little faster each round, but the recall half has no deadline at all and a wrong answer costs a life rather than the whole session.

The untimed recall is what sets it apart from the other memory game here. Echo puts a countdown on every tap you make; Word Recall puts none on your answer at all. If you want a sequence game where the thinking half is not raced, this is the one, and the three lives mean a slip does not end the session either.

Questions

Is there a time limit?

The words are shown at a fixed pace that quickens each round, and that part does not wait for you. Recall itself has no deadline.

What happens when I get one wrong?

A buzz, the correct order is revealed, and that attempt ends. You lose one of three lives and get a fresh set of words at the same length.

Does it need sound?

No. The words are shown on screen, so the game is fully playable muted.
