Leaderboards
Leaderboards exist so a score means something. Submit scores you actually achieved by playing the game as it is presented. Do not use automated input, modified code, intercepted network requests or any other method of submitting a score you did not play for.
Where scores appear not to have been genuinely played, we suspend that account's leaderboard participation, which takes its scores off the public boards. We do not publish a threshold for this, because doing so would only tell anyone trying to game it where the line sits.
Display names
A display name appears next to a score where other people, including children, will read it. Choose one suitable for a general audience.
Do not use a name that is obscene or sexually explicit; that attacks or demeans anyone on the basis of race, religion, sex, gender, sexuality, disability or nationality; that harasses or targets a specific person; that impersonates someone else, including us; that advertises a product or links to a site; or that contains personal information, whether yours or anyone else's.
Names are checked automatically when submitted. A name that is rejected at that point can simply be changed to something else; a rejection is not a punishment and nothing else follows from it. Automated checks are imperfect in both directions, which is why a moderator can also hide or replace a name afterwards, and why the report route below exists.
Reporting a problem
If you see a display name or a score that breaks these rules, tell us at privacy@blitzcade.com. Say which game and which leaderboard, and quote the name or describe the entry so we can find it.
Reports about display names are looked at ahead of general enquiries, because they are visible to everyone. You do not need an account to report anything, and we will not ask you for personal details in order to act on a report.
We will never ask you for your sign-in code or password when handling a report, and we do not need either to act on one.
What moderation can and cannot do
Moderators can resolve a report, hide a display name or replace it with a neutral one, suspend an account's leaderboard participation, and restore that participation afterwards. Suspension is what takes scores off the public boards: the scores are suppressed by the account's status rather than deleted, so restoring participation brings them back. We keep a record of these actions so decisions can be reviewed and repeated problems recognised.
We use the least of those that fits what happened. A name that is merely unsuitable is replaced; suspension is for repeated or deliberate abuse. Playing the games never requires an account, so a suspension affects leaderboard participation rather than access to the site or to progress saved in your browser.
If you think we have acted in error, write to privacy@blitzcade.com and say what was changed or suspended and why you believe it was within the rules. We will look at it again, and we will restore a display name or leaderboard participation where we got it wrong.
