What Fruit Frenzy is
Fruit is thrown upward from the bottom of the screen in small groups, and you slice it by dragging across it before it falls back out of play. A single stroke that passes through several pieces scores a combo worth more than the same fruit cut separately. Occasional stars trigger a frenzy, during which dropped fruit stops counting against you.
You start with three hearts. Slicing a bomb costs one. Letting fruit fall uncut also costs one, but only once per 600-millisecond window: the first miss opens that window and anything landing inside it is grouped with the first, so a burst that arrives together is charged as one heart rather than one per piece.
How it plays
Swipe across fruit to slice it; the cut follows your finger, so a long stroke covers more of the screen than a short flick. Avoid the bombs, and try not to let fruit fall uncut. Three hearts, and the round ends when they are gone. P pauses and M mutes.
Getting better at it
Fruit is thrown in arcs, so at the top of an arc the pieces are moving slowest and sit closest together. A stroke drawn at that moment can pass through several of them, where the same fruit cut one piece at a time scores as separate cuts rather than a combo.
A horizontal stroke crosses the full width of the screen and meets whatever is at that height; a vertical one covers a narrow column. Since the fruit arrives in arcs rather than columns, the flat stroke has more to intersect.
Slicing a bomb costs one heart. Dropped fruit is charged differently: a miss opens a 600-millisecond window, and any further fruit that lands inside that window is grouped with it and costs nothing extra. So two pieces lost together cost one heart between them, while two lost more than 600 milliseconds apart cost one each.
Who it suits
The swipe is the whole input, and it works with a finger or a mouse drag. Nothing needs explaining beyond "cut the fruit, not the bomb", and a round is short.
The frenzy is worth planning around. While a star is active, dropped fruit stops counting against you, so it is the one window where a wild stroke through a crowded screen carries no cost from anything you miss.
Questions
What happens if I slice a bomb?
It costs one of your three hearts. A dropped fruit also costs one, but misses within 600 milliseconds of each other are grouped and charged as a single heart. Losing all three ends the round.
How do combos work?
A single continuous stroke that passes through several fruits scores as a combo, worth more than cutting the same fruit in separate strokes.
Does it work with a mouse?
It does, by dragging, though the game is designed around a finger on a touchscreen.
